Do I need to replace my entire lock if I lose my keys?
Not necessarily! In most cases, we can re-key your existing locks. This involves changing the internal pins so the old keys no longer work and a new key does. It’s much more cost-effective than buying all new hardware.
How long does it take for Mel's Lock & Key to arrive?
Because we are the largest locksmith in Idaho Falls, we typically have the fastest response times in the area. Depending on your location and traffic, we usually arrive within 15–30 minutes for local emergencies.
Can you make keys for modern cars with "chips" in them?
Yes. We carry the latest programming technology to create transponder keys and remotes for nearly all makes and models. We provide the same quality as a dealership but usually at a much lower price.
Are you available on weekends or holidays?
Yes. Our office follows standard hours (closing at 5:00 PM), but our 24-hour emergency team is on call 365 days a year. If you’re locked out, we’re available.
Can you open my safe without damaging it?
Our goal is always non-destructive entry. With 45 years of experience, we use specialized tools and manipulation techniques to open safes while keeping the unit functional whenever possible.
