About Mel’s Lock & Key

Josh often jokes that he’s a Marine Biologist at heart who happens to work as a Locksmith, and if you ask him about the ocean or his daughter, he’ll gladly share stories from life beyond the shop. Beneath that approachable personality, however, is a highly skilled professional dedicated to his craft. Josh has traveled nationwide to receive specialized training in safe opening and repair, and he brings extensive, practical expertise to every aspect of locksmithing—from residential rekeys to safe services to commercial hardware installation.

As the manager of the shop, Josh has also strengthened the business’s commitment to community engagement. He has championed expanded sponsorship of local sports programs and is actively working to raise awareness about two organizations that have had a profound impact on his family: Ronald McDonald House Charities and Tiny Hero: Hope for CDH. RMH provided housing and support during his daughter’s six months in the NICU, and Tiny Hero offered critical education and guidance throughout her care.

Jess is our shop’s most experienced technician. With over 10 years on the job, Jess can diagnose and solve your lock problems. Primarily focused on residential and commercial, Jess is well versed on the in’s and out’s of lock cylinders, secure keyways, and Master systems. Outside of work, he continues to expand on his previous experience as a chef making some of the best food for his lovely wife.

With a background in computer science, TJ’s understanding of electronics was the perfect fit for Automotive work given the continued security advancement. From a domestic Chevrolet to a foreign VW, TJ has traveled the country to train on the in’s and out’s of Automotive security and programming. Outside of work Tj enjoys playing the latest video game and spending time with his daughter.

Lenny is our newest employee. He has a background in law enforcement and has worked in a wide variety of jobs. Currently, he is our dedicated after hours tech, unlocking vehicles and rekeying homes while the shop is closed. With continued education, we anticipate Lenny taking a more active role in the future. Outside of work Lenny enjoys fishing and other outdoor recreation with his son.

Brylee’s primary role is behind the scenes answering your phone calls and getting your jobs scheduled. She is also knowledgeable in standard lock assembly, lock rekeying, and is familiar with our 1500+ keyways. When not cutting your keys, Brylee moonlights as a Baker making fabulous cakes.

Our youngest tech, Jacob, has worked with us the last two summers and after school each day. Jacob is familiar with rekeying the majority of locks and knows his way around our 1500+ keys. He regularly assists in scheduling with Brylee, and helps Josh maintain the many Marine Aquariums at the shop. Outside of work, he is a diligent student and enjoys volunteering with Field of Angels, a special needs baseball program which Josh’s daughter greatly enjoys!

The true magician behind the scenes, Jenna keeps all of our invoicing and accounting organized. Particularly important to our commercial clients, Jenna helps facilitate timely billing and processing of payments. When not working, Jenna takes the role of supermom, organizing after school activities for her family and enjoying the great outdoors with hunting, fishing and camping.
